Welcome to Pockets Universe (PU). I am R.A. Boze, the author and creator of PU.

What Is Pockets Universe?

Pockets Universe is a fictional Sci-fi universe, set hundreds of years in the future. One day, Pockets Universe will be home ot dozens of interconnected short stories, novellas, and novels — published in a serialized format.

Mankind has discovered wormhole technology that has allowed them to colonize more than one-hundred star systems.

However, despite advances in nuclear fusion, inter-system travel is still a long haul — often taking six months to one year to go from one system to another. This has led to each system developing in its own “pocket,” with its own government, culture, concerns, and way of life.

Multi-system governments are rare, and the farther outside of the core systems you go, the more desolate and unpredictable things become, security-wise.

The stories told within Pockets Universe are serialized — released in “episodes,” and cateogirized into “seasons,” just like a TV show. At any given time, there may be one to three stories being published.

Some stories will be small and self-contained, taking place on a single ship or planet. Other stories will be big, sweeping space operas.

All of the stories told within this universe are also 100% free. You can read them directly on this website, and others. Soon, I plan to start publishing podcasts and youtube videos for each episodes as they release. I want to make PU as accessible to sci-fi fans as possible.

More than anything, Pockets Universe is a canvas for storytelling. I had been writing sci-fi stories for years prior to starting to starting PU, self-publishing them on the Amazon Unlimited bookstore. But, I had always wanted to do something different. I wanted to tell stories that all took place in the same universe, building on each other to create a vibrant and varied world that my readers can dive into and explore from many angles and in several genres. I didn’t want to be limited by the publishing grind or by what is selling — I just want to tell great stories.

I also wanted to tell stories that felt real. The PU is harsh. The good guys win, the bad guys win. Characters you love will die. The stakes are real and the decisions our characters make matter.

I am currently publishing the first season of the first story, “The Blue Beyond.”
